Tour of Britain

You never know how a roadshow date is going to work out. On Friday last, we supported the CTC at the Colchester stage (Stage 7) of the tour of Britain. Richard from CTC had invited a number of schools, mainly mainstream, to experience a bmx trial zone as well as a session on our cycles. This took me into new territory as I attempted to convey different aspects of cycling for the disabled and the types of cycles available to a much younger audience than usual. I really enjoyed it and the response from the children involved was really thoughtful and enthusiatic. We didn't get to see any of the race, however we had a great day, chatted to the SRAM support team, a number of good enquiries, a cup of tea alongside the mayor in the castle and playing teacher to some great kids!

York Festival of Cycling

Shrewsbury Cycle Festival

We are preparing for Shrewsbury Bike Fest which is being held this Saturday. Here's hoping and praying that the weather and turnout will be good. Shrewsbury is the nearest Cycling Town to our base in Shifnal. Several of our staff have their homes in the Shrewsbury area.

There are plenty of activities and you can check these out at the Cycle Shrewsbury website www.cycleshrewsbury.co.uk

The Team

Quest 88 has been directly involved in the manufacture of cycles and tricycles for over 18 year now. Four years ago we recognised our need for a larger tricycle for children who had outgrown the Panther tricycle.

At about the same time we got a call from Draisin, an established company in the Black Forest, Germany. Consequently the guys at Draisin brought over to the UK, a huge array of cycling equipment for people of all sizes and abilities. The decision at that time was, do we simply look to distribute Draisin's larger tricycles or do we embrace the whole range and go for it?

We already had many committments with our therapy and mobility equipment design and development, however we decided to dip our toes in the water and bought two complete demonstration fleets of Draisin cycles, one for the North and Scotland and one for the rest of the UK. Thereafter we became the UK importer and distributor for Draisin therapy cycles and it has been fantastic to work with another company with a similar ethos.

It then went bananas! We could never have imagined how this initial decision would change our company and expand our horizons and bring cycling opportunities to so many people.

To begin with, we used the existing factory and office infrastructure to accomodate the expanding cycle business. We then became very busy and very stretched and soon found that our service standards were declining a little.

The last 6 months has seen us work tirelessly to install the kind of infrastructure that will take us forward and deliver the kind of service people need.

In 2010, we have launched this new website and at the same time invested in a new team of individuals to improve our service and our response times. New Quest 88 cycling products as well as new Draisin products will be coming on-stream soon.

We will be publishing direct contact details for the new team in the next couple of weeks.

For any of you who know Quest 88 and especially those therapists and parents that have supported us in the past; our childrens tricycles including Kitten, Colt, Panther, Laser, Neon and Eclipse will still be demonstrated by our Quest 88 local product specialists.
